Dielectric Testing

Dielectric testing is a non-destructive test method in which high voltage is used to determine the effectiveness of electrical insulation and determine how well it can resist high voltage.

We can test your equipment to confirm the integrity of the electrical insulating sections and ensure conformance with the applicable codes and standards. This ensures that when your employees are working near live power lines, they will be protected. Kova Engineering is capable of testing the following equipment:

Testing Standards

Our Dielectric Testing is performed in accordance with the following standards for category B and C equipment:

Acoustic Emissions

Acoustic Emissions testing is performed on fibreglass reinforced plastic (FRP) components in place of Dielectric Testing. Steel components may also be monitored using this procedure as a guide to satisfy the requirements of ASTM F914 “Acoustic Emission for Insulated Aerial Personnel Devices.” Acoustic Emission testing is a powerful method for examining behaviour of materials deforming under stress.
